Our Partnership Model

Omekanahkay was built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and benefits. The three First Nations work with one another and leverage their combined strengths to identify and capture opportunities for mutual benefit. The three First Nations have established positive working relationships with each of their joint venture partners which has enabled discussions on future projects and opportunities.

The Omekanahkay partnership model is simple: the First Nations owners identify and capture opportunities for the joint venture partners through an Indigenous-owned entity and the joint venture partners provide their regular services. Services – especially those within the Traditional Territories – are marked up at a small but reasonable percentage by Omekanahkay as owner fees to provide direct benefits to the owner First Nations. Secondary benefits to the owner First Nations are captured through training, capacity building, and employment.

Omekanahkay continues to work with its joint venture partners on work related to the Wataynikaneyap Project and other projects in the region. Omekanahkay continues to search for and investigate new opportunities as well as new potential partnerships.
